An Unabridged History of Coffee

1450s Arab traders transport the beans into Europe via North Africa and India.
1511 Coffee banned in Mecca. They did not like its stimulant effects.
1524 Mecca coffee ban overturned. Now they like its stimulant effects.
1554 Worlds first coffee house opens in Istanbul; No football shirts allowed and closed on Sundays.
1580 or 1650 First Coffee house opens in England (by an importer of Turkish goods).
1590s the word coffee first enters the English Language, deriving its meaning from the Arabic “qahwa al bun”, “wine of the bean”, and the Turkish “kahve”.
1600 Coffee houses “baptised” by Pope Clement VIII. The “Americano” was born.
1600s Women banned from most European Coffee Houses. I’m not saying nothing…
1645 First Coffee house opens in Italy (only 65 years behind England…)
